Week 2 Playlist: 08-14 January

On Black Friday last year, I bought myself a ridiculous coat. It was described as an asymetric extended hoodie”, and basically makes me look like an extra from a 90s adaptation of a William Gibson short story that was more interested in nailing BAMA/Sprawl aesthetics than it was in tackling the more pressing themes of cyberpunks WHAT.

In short: I look ridiculous in this coat, and it will never be worn outside of my house except as part of a fancy dress outfit.

That’s why I’m opening with an easy theme - out with the old, in with the new. I wanted this week’s playlist reflect the sodden, mostly-wretched timespan that was 2020 laying gently down to die, followed by some semblance of energy and optimism that the concept of 2021 brings with it.

(And yes, I realise that the more pragmatic view of time means we have to acknowledge that the only difference between Thursday 31st December 2020 and Friday 1st January 2021 is the taxonomy of our calendar, not an actual function of reality. But I said I was going with an easy option to open this project with)
